These book covers were designed as part of an assignment for my Professional Development Certificate in Graphic Design at Brighton MET College.
For this project, we were provided with a set of random words that needed to be creatively represented on our book covers.
The random words selected for me were - Bill Hicks, Rome, Naples Yellow, Brazil Nut, 1729
After conducting thorough research, I selected specific images that could effectively represent each of these random words, incorporating them into all of my design pieces.
I employed various techniques, including layer blending, photo-bashing, and selection tools, to develop my final images. For the book titled "Smoke in the Mountains," I utilised Illustrator to craft a vector landscape and then refined the details using Photoshop.
Inside The Future
This Image was created using a series of photos, using different layer blending and cutting techniques.
Bill Hicks - Represented by smoke as he was an avid smoker and spoke a lot about it in his stand-up shows
1729 - Represented by the taxi, 1729 is known as the 'taxicab number'
Brazil Nut - Represented by the radiation symbol, Brazil nuts contain high numbers of Radium
Naples Yellow - Represented by Mount Vesuvius, Naples yellow is said to have been made from deposits near the volcano
Rome - Represented by Michelangelo's 'Creation of Adam' as it it situated in the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
Smoke In The Mountains
This piece was created entirely in Adobe Illustrator, creating an aesthetically pleasing landscape.

1729 - Spelled out using the shapes of the rivers
Brazil Nut - Represented by the trees and landscape theme as Brazil nuts grow in the Amazon rainforest
Naples Yellow - Represented by the yellow mountain (Mount Vesuvius) Naples yellow is said to have been made from deposits near the volcano I have also used the HEX code for Naples Yellow to accurately represent the colour
Rome - Represented by the overall shape of the original image being an arch, resonating the arches on the Colosseum

This piece was created using many layer blend and selection techniques in Adobe Photoshop.
Bill Hicks - Represented by the smoke in the arch due to his smoking habits
1729 - Represented by the taxi as 1729 is known as the 'Taxicab number'
Brazil Nut - Represented by the trees as Brazil nuts grow in the Amazon rainforest
Naples Yellow - Represented by the yellow sun, I have used the HEX code for the colour to make sure it is accurate
Rome - Represented by the Roman arch
